Runners line up for Kinesio!

Kinesio- trained therapists taped over 100 runners during the Pasta Party prior to the BUPA Great North Run this year and queues for the treatment extended right around the exhibition hall.

Managing Director Kevin Anderson vowed to triple the number of Kinesio Practitioners with him in 2015 simply to meet demand!

"From the minute we opened the stand at 9.30am in the morning until 5pm in the afternoon, we were inundated with requests for Kinesio taping." says Kevin. "Many people had remembered the support Kinesio had given them the previous year in 2013, and had returned for the same treatment. One woman was so relieved to find us she was nearly in tears!

"As a North East-based company, Kinesio UK is always proud to be associated with the Great North Run and delighted to attend the Pasta Party."

Every year, as part of a weekend celebration of sport, a traditional "Pasta Party" is held for all participants the day before the Great North Run. There are lots of activities on offer, including: inflatable pole vault; "test your speed" in the running tunnel; mini football tournaments; free bowls of pasta; and of course having minor injuries taped up and supported prior to the big day by professional Kinesio taping practitioners.

Kinesio UK Directors, Kevin Anderson and Laura Slater manned the Kinesio stand, with assistants Brooke Foster and Shannon Neve, and clinical assistance from Kinesio-trained Practitioners Karen Jackson and Charlotte Dixon.

Pre-cut Kinesio Tape was on offer at greatly discounted rates and runners could then explain their injuries to the qualified staff who then taped them up appropriately.

Karen Jackson is a graduate sports therapist and qualified Kinesio Practitioner from Darlington. She was amazed at the amount of runners desperate to be Kinesio taped and was on her feet all day."It was mainly calf injuries that I was taping, along with lateral knee problems and ham string strains. One lady in her 40s had broken her ankle in April and although she'd been passed as fit to run, she felt she needed a little extra support. In nearly every case, the patients remarked how much better they felt as soon as the Kinesio Tape was in place."

Kinesio UK is now considering offering this taping service at all major sporting events throughout the UK.
