With healthcare systems and staff around the world currently dealing with one of the most challenging health crises ever seen, the World Health Organization dedicates 7th April as the annual World Health Day.
With 2020 being the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, World Health Day highlights nursing around the world - celebrating the work of nurses and midwives and reminding world leaders of the important role they play in keeping us all in good health.
Nurses and many other health workers are currently at the forefront of tackling COVID-19 - providing quality treatment and care for patients, answering questions and collecting data for clinical studies to help scientists analyse crucial data. Moving forward, healthcare workers around the world are also critical if we are to achieve national and global targets for general health coverage, maternal and child health, treatment of diseases and mental health.
During this difficult time, we’d like to take a moment today to express our appreciation and thank UK nurses, health workers, midwives and frontline keyworkers for the vital work they do each day. #SupportNursesandMidwives
