Barely has a Rugby World Cup 2015 game been played without stripes of beige, black or blue Kinesio spotted on the players. And no wonder - as Kinesio is particularly effective in the immediate relief of pain from tired and overworked muscles, as well as joint impingement, tight hamstrings and achilles injuries, all conditions particularly associated with intense rugby training. We've counted over 50 players in total from all over the world wearing Kinesio during the tournament - particularly players from Samoa, Fiji, France, South Africa, Italy, Georgia and Ireland and here are just a few:
Fly half Frederic Michalak of France is a keen fan of Kinesio wearing the black tape very visibly on his left knee during the match between France and Canada at Stadium MK in Milton Keynes on 1 October Bryan Habana of South Africa, equalled Jonah Lomu's World Cup try-scoring record with a hat-trick as South Africa reached the quarter-finals by thrashing USA.
The Kinesio-wearing winger scored three times in just 21 second-half minutes to draw level with Lomu's mark of 15 World Cup tries Kini Murimurivalu who plays as Wing or fullback for Fiji, as well as the French team Clermont Auvergne scored his country's sixth try against Uruguay on 6 October with blue Kinesio on both legs.
Kini's team mate Nemani Nadolo who kicked a conversion during the same match against Uruguay, has blue Kinesio applied to his left hamstrings - helping his successful kick obviously!
At a nail biting moment during the Samoa Japan game, Rey Rey Lee-Lo hands off Luke Thompson of Japan on 3 October with Kinesio highly visible on his left leg Italy's Alessandro Zanno wears Kinesio prominently on his right leg during the match between Ireland and Italy at the Olympic Stadium on 4 October.
Merab "Meko" Kvirikashvili is a Georgian rugby player, who started his career as a scrum half but now plays as a fly half and occasional full back. He's the leading points scorer for the Georgian national rugby union team and wears Kinesio frequently.
